Growing Pains
2022
A multimedia installation that explores the trivial transition
from childhood to adulthood through the lens of physical,
contained objects.
Through deconstructed, transformed, invented, and cataloged imagery,
we create files of our past, present, and future. This becomes a continuous
journey of making our intangible inner selves, tangible. By immersing ourselves
and creating connections with our surroundings, we develop forms of
self-representation with which to identify, always in search of a sense of belonging.
These explorations started as a deep dive into the human tendency to hold onto
memories and traumas of the past. Through an exploration of personal space and
object attatchment, this installation explores the stories that a series of objects can tell.
